CSTEC Participates in the First Cooperation Forum of National Contact Point

The first Cooperation Forum of National Contact Point, organized by the Greece Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH), was held in Athens from Jun. 8 to Jun. 10. Delegation led by Deputy Director-General of China Science and Technology Exchange Center (CSTEC) CHEN Heping attended the event. There were over 130 officials, representatives of national contact points, experts and scholars from more than 50 EU member countries and the third-party countries present at the forum.

 

One of the highlights of the forum was the discussion on how to establish the contact points of EU Framework Programme in more countries. Deputy Director-General CHEN made a speech on behalf of the National Contact Point of China, and exchanged ideas with other participants on China’s interest in international science and technology cooperation, and the problems and suggestions concerning China’s participation in the Seventh EU Framework Programme. After the session, representatives from national contact points of Russia, Netherlands, Thailand, South Africa, etc. said they were ready to strengthen cooperation with China under the Seventh EU Framework Programme and other scientific fields.

 

A memorandum of understanding between CSTEC and FORTH was signed on Jun. 10. It is primarily aimed at promoting cooperation and consolidating the stable and friendly partnership between the two sides. First Secretary of the Embassy of China in Hellenic Republic Liang Xuejun was present at the signing ceremony. Deputy Director of CSTEC’s European Affairs Division DONG Keqin was also in the delegation.
